Coral Reef Regatta Day 1
The Coral Reef Regatta started off with a one hour postponement today for the 28 competitors. The patients of the Race Committee paid off. We sailed three raced this afternoon on Biscayne Bay. The first race was a very soft 5 knot sea breeze. For the final two races the wind built to 10-12 and faded during the last race. Scores have not been posted yet pending a few protests. We had a mixed day on our boat. My flight was delayed last night so I did not arrive until 1:00 AM. Also because of the tides we put the boat in on the way back from airport. So we did not get to our hotel until 2:30 this morning. Needless to say we were a bit tired this morning. It took the first race for us to wake up. We broke the cardinal rule of not sailing your throw out in the first race. The next two races were better so we should be in the top five after day one. With two more day of sailing we have plenty of time to improve. Full Story »
