50% hit rate...
I received a great email from my friends at Ocean Yacht Systems who have just completed work on the tallest aluminium rig in the world and are quite rightly pretty pleased as punch with the result! The rig has been stepped without a hitch on a 56 metre cutter called "S/Y Salute" which is just about to start sea trials in Italy yad yada yada but it did get me wondering: I have enough trouble stepping a rig on a Laser...how on earth do you do it on something this big? I suppose it's a monster crane, a following wind and a lot of physics and maths! Anyhow, seeing as I wouldn't normally post a flagrant piece of advertising as such unless my palm was crossed with copious silver, gifts and lap-dancers, it was the last line of the email that really caught my eye where Sales Director Mark Barwell added a PS: "You are the homepage for 50% of our design and sales staff BTW so be nice please!!" Well I'd like to say to the glorious, wonderful (and quite good-looking) 50% who have my ugly mug as their homepage: "howdy folks and can I say what a wonderful job you're doing!" as for the other 50%....
