As the AC recession starts to really bite, there are disgruntled sailors from all over the place coming out of the woodwork, finally finding their voices and saying how it really is to be the pawns in a billionaires game. This from an ex BMW Oracle sailor who shall remain anonymous: Hi Magnus,. This ETNZ court case is one big smoke screen, on one hand you have ETNZ only weeks away from pulling the plug, its now looking as if Grant Dalton is looking for some one to blame. But on the other hand they are able to go out and get the most expensive legal team there is in New York. Being a former sailor of BMW Racing I also can't get over the currEnt state of the Americas Cup. But there is a lot of people who are to blame for this..... I still have a few old friends in BMW Racing and things in there are not as rosey as you may think. .One disturbing thing that i have heard out of Valencia is that BMW racing has befriend ETNZ, and are happy to help out in anyway to cover thEIR legal costs. This just points to the fact this is just a conflict been Russell Coutts and Ernesto Bertarelli, this just makes my blood boil, there are a lot of us sailors out here trying to make ends meet, and then there are people like Grant Dalton who has just mismanaged his team and are looking for a scapegoat. .We all hope that one day we all can get back on to the water but with some of the egos that are around that seems along way off....
