Some stories never die...
I love opening my inbox in the morning because I just don't know where the next sandstorm will come from but I get quite literally deluged with emails and it's the themes that I try and pick up on to see if there's a story. And so it was, this morning, following the excellent Thierry Martinez photos of Coutts sailing his RC44's in Dubai with three sources claiming that Russ is speccing the joint ahead of a possible AC move to the Gulf. I mean, it would make sense on paper: the place is tacky, over-priced and has a bent ruler awash with petro/business/tourism dollars that must seem so, so enticing to young Ernie...Forget the politics and back-biting in Europe, head off to the sun, sea and sand where you can book yourself into the Burj al-Arab (above) and enjoy seven-star luxury for years and then write it off against tax... But then again, I still get emails saying that Brad Butterworth is "hours" from resigning at Alinghi so I tend to take much of what I receive with a very large pinch of salt... Full Story »
