D35's worst nightmare...
Apparently there's a D35 on the market going cheap and I'm seriously considering buying it. The owner is apparently willing to offload it to me for "£1 plus other considerations" and seeing as I've got a bit of holiday to take this year, I thought it might be fun to race it on the lakes in Switzerland. All I need is a decent skipper - perhaps I'll do the obvious thing and raid the Kiwi talent pool - and I'm sure I could staff it with willing readers of Rule69 who would fancy a ride? There wouldn't be objections now, would there? Apparently the class association is a really friendly bunch of "gentlemen" who promote "high-level competition on the water and friendship ashore" - great! Looking forward to it. And they also say that they don't "forbid anyone from racing!" Brilliant, I'm getting really excited now! They also say that they put "sport before commerce"...terrific, so there's no threat to my business interests...it all sounds too good to be true. The only draw back that I can see is some total lunatic family that think they own Lake Geneva but hey, I can live with that. I wonder if they can live with me? Full Story »
