Go Sarah...Go!
Hate the boat...love the girls that sail it though! And I'm just loving the news coming back from Miami that Sarah Ayton, Sarah Webb and Pippa Wilson are stamping their considerable authority all over this class fleet at the Ynglingasaurus World Championship. And then Paul Brotherton sends this quite brilliant report through...Paul you should be a journalist mate! Cheers to Porky for forwarding it on to me...Go girls, go, we love ya: Its always wednesday when you get the massive days, don't know why, it just is. 20k became 25 gusting 30 at start time. Plenty of unhappy coaches were doing what they could to steer the committee and Jury but as usual, they just went on and did what they wanted. The call for us was caution, keep the rig in the boat and get round the track in one piece. Germany led at this early stage and I pretty much knew that caution would be outdone by competitive instinct, and sure enough, the kite was the first to go up and a 5th at mark 1 became a 2nd at mark 2. Meanwhile, Pippa simply made the call: "We need to drop now". Kite down, jib up, cruise through the hastily assembled finish line, take the bullet and if Andy Gray was commentating he would have said "Take a bow son" Three races tomorrow, last day of fleet racing, girls need to get one more good counter then probably see how the points stack up before going into the last two normal races, setting up the best they can for the Medal race on Friday. NB For those without Sky TV Andy Gray says that if someone scores an amazing goal. Full Story »
