I was browsing my stats and traffic on Friday and found a whole lot of new friends coming through from the Merlin Rocket website: www.merlinrocket.co.uk - Howdy and welcome to my world, it's hell in here! Anyhow, so I started perusing around their website and found these fascinating photos from the 1977 National Championships in Hayling Island of the winners, Pat Blake and Dave Richardson. Doesn't the Merlin look a terrific class? Even back in 1977 they were ahead of the game and the new boats look like fine pieces of Chippendale furniture that require extensive re-mortgages to own! The class association looks alive and kicking and I can certainly vouch for the sailors' alcoholism and love of a good party! Their circuit is like a middle class dating agency for eligible 18-35 year olds...love it, long live the Merlin Rocket! And yes, that is Kermit the Frog below... Full Story »
