Competitive Dad....
There was me having a nice bit of gentle banter about pushing my son into either an Oppy or a Topper (before he can walk, mind you) and then up pops double Olympic silver medallist Ian Walker with an email that totally raises the ante: You're beating up the wrong tree Magnus. No Toppers, no Oppies – mine are starting in 18 ft skiffs – they’ll grow up quick (or drown). Here’s my 4 year old practicing her tacking on the mighty Yandoo. Competition will be tough though as Adrienne Cahalan has just had a baby girl! Ian So you can see how all this starts now! Before long I'll be trailing little Harry's Oppys all over the country going to mindless weekend training sessions where the main competition will be between the Dads off the water rather than the kids actually out there doing it! For the record, Harry's having a Bladerider for his 6th birthday....sod the Oppy, that's just old hat and by then the Moth WILL be Olympic...
