We've upset the Steinlager lot...
Looks like me and "my man in Antigua" have upset the crew of the legendary Steinlager 2 as I received the following email response from Stefen Detjen. No offence meant old bean, personally I love the boat and I admire people that take boats that are slightly off the modern beat and still campaign them! Ask your Antigua correspondent to take a closer look or to ask our Skipper Peter to show him Steinlager... The old dinosaur is in great shape! Brand new hull and deck painting, new electronics, new engine, complete refitted rigg... And under the (ok, old) sail cover a new Spectra Gatorback mainsail from North Sails.    5 years ago we saved the legendary ketch from a sad destiny. She was lying in Italy and rather fucked up... But now Big Red just finished another transatlantic crossing (the third in the last 12 months) with a Russian Corporate Charter and is just preparing to go back to Europe. Between the crossings we even have time to make some line honours in Med regattas: . 9°    Barcolana                                             2004  12th overall (1'956 participants)I°     Roma per Tutti                                     2005  first ship homeI°     Roma-Carthago                                   2005  first ship home & race recordI°     Palermo-Montecarlo                            2005  first ship home & race record3°    Rolex Middle Sea Race                         2005  2nd ship home3°    Palermo-Montecarlo                            2006  2nd ship home2°   Palermo-Montecarlo                            2007  first ship home .If things goes well you will see Big Red at the Cork Week this year!
