I've received a rather worrying set of emails from some ex-Alinghi team members regarding the team imploding and laying off staff (and long term staff) unceremoniously without severance pay and with little fanfare for their years of service. Quite rightly the ex team members want to stay anonymous but I have some detailed accounts of life within the Alinghi circle that are less than glamorous and in some cases downright disgraceful...confirming my long held belief that Ernie is an extremely nasty piece of work and a total nightmare to work for. I also hear that several individuals and groups of former team members have hired lawyers to file for "breach of contract" disputes...another set of headaches for a team that are rapidly descending into a travelling clown circus. Personally I think Alinghi are fatally sunk below the waterline with their latest round of redundancies but the head honchos are running around like headless PR chickens spreading all manner of messages and dis-information. Last night it was Poodleworth's turn in Cork (see photo above) and by all accounts he had a fairly easy time of it from the Irish...I wonder how long he'll stay in the fold?
