Dinosaur racing...
Just take a look at this photo above. In my opinion it shows just where Olympic sailing, ISAF and the IOC have got the whole thing so wrong. Boring white boats, bobbing along in next to no wind with the crews sitting in and a load of technical nonsense boatspeed issues going on. No wonder the kids of today would rather sit on their Playstations than get inspired by this non-spectacle. "Ooooh look, one of them's got a gold star on their mainsail"....who cares? This is just boring to watch and is inspiring precisely no-one to get into the sport other than a load of ex-Finnasaurus sailing fat boys who have conned their national authority into sponsoring their four year 'training' jaunt around the world...We absolutely have to overhaul the dinosaur Olympic classes and start promoting the sport as a wet and wild outdoor ambition rather than a genteel pastime sailed by white, middle-class buffoons... Give me Moths, slalom courses, timed runs, one on one shoot outs for medals, waves, wind, head cams, collisons, kinetics, trapezes, enormous sail areas, balletic sailors and heroes to inspire the next generation...stay like this and we may as well all go and play golf!
