Calabuig Yacht Club
The 32nd America's Cup is over. The next event was supposed to be announced in the press conference two days after the final race. This is not the case. The next venue depends on the negotiations between the Valencian government and Alinghi. Alinghi doesn't want the planned expansion of the port to go ahead which would be unsightlly but there is also the possibilty of port facilities up the road in Sagunto. If so, Bertarelli has suitable real estate available in Sagunto.Meanwhile, preliminary races are supposed to be run in AC version 5 boats. Qualifying teams will then have 18 months to build one 90 foot boat manned by 20 some odd crew. No design rules have been provided, just the concept, which will give Alinghi time to make the rule and develop at the same time.Meanwhile, I would like to introduce you to the waiters at the fledgling Calabuig Yacht Club, across the street from AC park, which most people would recognize after having a cafe con leche, a cool beer or tasty calamares. They survived the whole thing with the best of humor despite their clients lack of local language skills.Saludos Full Story »
