Lone yachtsman calls home for rescue
At just after midday yesterday, Falmouth Coastguard was contacted by its French colleagues reporting that they had received a telephone call from the father of a yachtsman who was sailing single handed to America. The yachtsman had rung his dad using his iridium satellite phone reporting that he had capsized and was trapped in the upturned hull. Falmouth Coastguard was informed that the yacht was in a position 440 miles west south west of the Isles of Scilly.
