The ACM release that we cut and paste into a story here on the BOB earlier this week in its entirety was apparently incomplete and misleading. We regret any confusion. ACTV executive producer Caroline Hunt has kindly written to set the record straight: I just wanted to inform you that the blog you posted with the ACTV information I issued to the press last week has been represented wrongly on your blog, where it says '100 million viewers - potential reach' this ONLY relates to the audience of the CCTV5 sports programme [CHINA] and not the entire audience of the 32nd America's Cup which inclusive of 'live' coverage, highlights and news exposure goes beyond 2 billion viewers. If you want exact audience figures the best person to contact for this is Nicolas Duchoud, ACM's Director of Sponsorship and Broadcast Relations of whom I have put in copy. Thanks for amending... By the way, an article about ACTV called "Alinghi's unparalleled control over the America's Cup" appeared in this morning's NZ Herald. Your Ed. does not agree with everything author Paul Lewis says in the article, but read it and you may understand better why the Challenger Commission, to say nothing of Louis Vuitton, have been at loggerheads with ACM over TV and promotion. It remains the firm opinion of your Ed. that if a central organizing committee is to work (and a central org. cte. is preferable to what we had before), it must be co-owned -- and its management appointed by mutual consent -- with the Challenger Commission.
