Long Afternoon?
This comment by "Valencian AC Fan" (and your Ed. has no idea who it is, though he or she confirms information your Ed. has also heard) was just posted below our Smoking Gun story of earlier today: I've heard through the grapevine that by 12h30 Valencian time when they did the first break (protest finally started at 11h00), the only thing they said was that the protest had been accepted. Then the hearing of evidence started. When they later went out on the second break (around 13h30), the word was that they had been told not to comment anything until the end of the procedure, but everyone thought it was going to be loooong. No one expected a decision at least before 15h00, more like 16h00 or 17h00. And in the meantime, the press in camping n front of ACM?s offices? I would add that, when the jury does finally issue a decision, likely it will be an oral, interim decision with a written one later tonight or tomorrow morning. We are being asked if it is true that the jury was hand-picked by Alinghi. Not true. It was chosen by mutual consent of the Defender and Challenger Commission. All five are highly-qualified, top people whose only interest will be reaching a proper and fair decision under the letter and spirit of the applicable rules. We will blog the oral decision the minute we learn of it. Too bad we are unable to be in the protest room live-blogging the proceedings. Maybe that would be a good innovation for AC 33? Full Story »
