Bumper year for new boats!
The number of UK boats being registered at the moment is going through the roof. I got my existing bladerider in March, and since then 12 new boats have been registered in only 3 months! A combination of new prowlers, new mistresses and new bladeriders is expanding the fleet. My boat is going to become the Bladerider demo boat, based somewhere in Europe and will be sailed by Alex Knight at the worlds in Garda. But don't worry I'll still be there... in a new Bladerider GBR 4101. Its getting delivered direct to the sailing club, and I'm hoping Rohan or Amac will have given her a test sail before the event. It's not the greatest preparation for the biggest event of the year. I haven't sailed for 4 weeks and since then have only sailed about 10 times this year. Plus turning up with new untested kit has never been "text-book" advice. I haven't and wont be seen at any UK events because I need to get through these final exams. I'm contracted to start work in September, providing I pass all exams this year... and if this isn't done then I have to repay the firm all the money they have spent on my course fees (roughly £16,000)... so there's definately an incentive to knuckle down. But hey, who cares... short term v's long term. Its probably why I haven't featured in the UK predicted "pecking order" list. So I'm looking forward to hopefully causing an upset there! Full Story »
