Got some great photos taken on Wednesday by Alan Henderson up at Derwent. Have a look for yourselves on www.fotoboat.com. All photos are copyrighted to Alan Henderson / fotoboat.Here's a nice shot taken by Alan blasting downwind. Top speed for the first sail was 22.8 knots, which is pretty quick. Wind chill was pretty cold. Think the air temperature was about 10 degrees c, but the water was a whopping 4 degrees! Chilly! Especially when I was swimming quite a bit.A nice example of how not to gybe! As you can imagine it wasn't a success! Alan has the sequence on Fotoboat. Managed to stay upright but had a bit of a crash landing. This was the first sail since October, and I definately felt rusty! Despite hanging off the leeward wing the boat wasn't flat and wasn't happy! Upwind speed on the velocitek was around 14 knots. Upwind felt easy, and I'm definately concentrating on downwind over the next few weeks... especially gybing! Full Story »
