First Sail
Finally got out for my first sail today.Wind was Westerly about 18-20knots. Bit more than I would have liked for the first sail.Boat was great. Took a while to get back into it and felt very rusty, but nevertheless was great to be out.The boat handled very well. The rudder system is perfect. Really really good. Not only is it easy to adjust, but it moves the right amount for each twist and the difference is really apparent. The boat flew very level just like the mistress. Felt much different with the short wings as there isn't much wing in front of you sailing.Had a bit of a stupid moment when it became apparent that I hadn't screwed the wand into the plastic fitting at the bow. The wand fell off and was lost. Bit of an arse. Got two spares coming from the factory in case I Fu*k up again!Got a list of jobs to do to sort out all the little things. The toestraps and kicker strop both stretched really bad. Probably need a few hours tinkering.Planning on sailing next on Saturday... weather dependant. Rumour has it that there's snow on the way next week. BBBrrrrrrr!Nearly forgot to mention, Alan Henderson from fotoboat came over to take some photos. Was handy to have an extra hand there. He's taken some really nice shots which he's going to put up on his site asap. He plans on using them in the sailing press over the next few weeks, so keep your eyes peeled. He also managed to catch a nice sequence where I fell out and the boat continues to foil for another 4 lengths till it decides to gybe! Quite funny so I'm sure that will crop up somewhere as a how not to do it! Full Story »
