Milepost: 200,000 BOB Visitors
Well, it's not exactly a huge deal, but the BOB's Sitemeter just went over 200,000 visits. Most afternoons we check the Sitemeter, not so much for total numbers but to get a feel for how many people are on at any given moment (40+ just now), to be sure the Average Visit Length is not slipping (still over 2:00 minutes, which is gratifyingly high given the famously short attention span of internet "click-throughs"), and to see from which other sites visitors have been coming via links to the BOB in the past 24 hours. All of this, to some degree, is customer feedback; keeping tabs on it hopefully helps us give you a good service. When your Ed. checked this afternoon, we noticed the total visits was at 199,990. Since the meter only counts unique visitors per day, multiple sign-ons from the same computer only count once daily. Our marketing department heard we were on the brink of 200,000 and swung into action, signing on to the BOB from various computers scattered around the third floor of our team base. LOL -- within a couple minutes we were over 200,000. Also of note, but probably no surprise, is that we topped 100,000 only four months ago, on 19 Feb. With no advertising or promotion, and no broad audience or compelling reason for anyone to visit the BOB, we are surprised and pleased to have had such an uptake in the two years this blog has been running. Thanks again for your continuing interest and support. Screenshot of the BOB's sitemeter this afternoon, having just missed it turning over the 200,000-visitor mark. Full Story »
