The Maritime & Coastguard Agency (MCA) is asking people to follow the guidelines when it comes to dealing with out of date pyrotechnics, such as flares. According to Dave Jardine-Smith, Head of Search and Rescue at the MCA: ‘Only small quantities of time-expired pyrotechnics can be accepted by the Coastguard, and only when storage space is available locally.
