Irish Viking Warship comes back to Dublin
The Sea Stallion, a replica of a Viking age Irish ship found at the bottom of the Roskilde Fjord in Denmark, is due to set sail from Denmark to Dublin in July. The vessel is due to arrive in Ireland in mid August. In 1962 archaeologists excavated five Viking age ships at the bottom of the Fjord. They discovered that the largest of these, the Skuldelev 2, was the remains of an ocean-going long ship built in 1042 in Dublin using Scandinavian shipbuilding methods.
