A PERFECT START
A Perfect start by Luna Rossa and a large lead at the first mark was not enough to to fend off a fast finishing BMW Oracle racing in an exciting semi final match race in Valencia . Under clear skies and wind of 12-14 knots Luna Rossa entered from the unfavoured port side and was able to execute a shut out start winning the dial up and the battle deep in the start box. A 58 second lead dwindled to only 20 seconds after a large seperation downwind . Luna Rosa was able to pick the right mark and the right of the course. Once again a large seperation allowed the left to benefit and at the top mark Oracle was close enough to luff Luna Rossa.The luff slowed the spinaker hoist and another gain to BMW. Seperation did not benefit the Italian boat during the second downwind . This BMW Oracle boat Has won another match race finishing from behind Mr Bertelli 18th man for Luna Rossa was the last across the line. Full Story »
