Rigging damage dashes record attempt
British sailor Tony Bullimore has abandoned his attempt to sail single-handed around the world in under 70 days. According to Yachting Monthly, the veteran sailor was forced to turn back to New Zealand after discovering that a retaining pin holding the forestay to the forward beam had worked loose. The damage was such that the yacht was in danger of dismasting. But Bullimore has not given up hope.
