Second Race day Act 13 - Carnage reigns
The second race day of Act 13 fleet racing started completely different than the day before even though it was sunny at first. Heading out to the course it was obvious there would be racing with the wind coming out of 240 degrees and around 18 knots.A huge dark squall system on the right was what Desafio headed for immediately after the start with Alinghi directly behind her. Shortly before the windward mark, Alinghi slipped by the Spanish who stayed within three boat lengths or less of the Swiss throughout the race until Alinghi got the gun. The start had its casualties with Oracle being called back to the line for being over early and Mascalzone doing a penalty circle. The majority of the fleet moved to the right with the weather system on the upwind and downwind legs.
