Sailing NOOD
We had a great time sailing in the Marblehead NOOD which was the first event anywhere in the world for the SKUD 18. And no, we were not sailing nude; we're trying to make friends here, not enemies. The overall victory went to Scott Whitman of New Jersey. The last day of races presented shifty winds and a dying breeze. An extreme shift to the left of the course left us without much wind on the right and sealed our fate for this race and the competition overall. The race committee was only able to get one start in for the SKUD 18s before the 2:30 p.m. deadline on Sunday. Team Eagle placed second overall in its first ever SKUD 18 regatta. We clinched three firsts during the regatta. Overall, the three days of racing were filled with adrenaline and excitement. Like the Optimist kids before them, we keep hearing from other sailors how cool our boat looks on the water. The SKUD 18 definitely made an impression on the other NOOD sailors this past week. Team Eagle would like to thank all those that helped us and other SKUD 18 teams this past weekend. Without your support this event could not have happened. We would also like to thank the other teams for making the trek to Marblehead from faraway places such as Seattle and Miami. Full Story »
