Hanging out with the kids, Puma style!
A puma treat: in route for a daily dose of freshly ground espresso, happened on Puma crew member Casey Smith while preparing to address a group of school kids in Puma City: There was a Spanish interpreter to assist Casey (the aussie does not speak Spanish) and the kids asked excellent questions: when do they sleep, do they stop the boat at night time, how do they eat and what do they wear...what happens if someone gets hurt and Casey was fantastic and great fun. Some additional scoop: The weather projections for the next few days are simply horrible with winds expected to be in the 40s, terrible rain and the Alicante port does not manage wave action well. This means the floating docks the V70s are calling home turn into bucking broncos, risking potential damage to all attached. Casey tells me the team will have all boat work completed today, the eighth, and looking into take the boat out and anchoring her in away from the docks and pier. More to come on that tomorrow, when we see what happens. Weather for start is looking gray and wet, but calmer breeze, though still to early to say for sure...wait and see...wait and see. Cheers! Ooo... one more bit from Casey, I asked him, "How's the sailing gear" and he admits the first few runs were hard, but the kit is good stuff and not a worry about being comfortable. Full Story »
