There are some top international sailors entered, so there will be some competitive racing." The regatta will take place between 15th -20th September and be open to all 2012 Olympic Classes, with the exception of Women's Match Racing. David Campbell-James, Sail for Gold Event Director, said: "The Skandia Sail for Gold regatta has already established itself as a great event and with 230 boats and 300 competitors entered this year we are expecting an exciting competitive event." A chance for foreign sailors to gain experience and knowledge of the next Olympic sailing venue has proven to be a draw with many international sailors competing this year, including entrants from Bulgaria, Brazil, Denmark, France, Finland, Germany, Italy, Spain, Sweden and Switzerland. This will be the third year of the Skandia Sail for Gold Regatta and the event has already established itself as a firm fixture on the Olympic Classes circuit and has exciting plans to continue its development and expansion over the next few years. "Our focus for the 2008 event will be to deliver excellent race management for the competitors. We are continuing our work on the Race-Trax tracking devices which in the future, will show racing on the internet and the big screens which we are planning for the Academy for Skandia Sail for Gold 2009."
