Mokisha: Mutiny on the Bounty in Aitutaki
Aitutaki (AAA-2-TAK-EEE) is a picture-postcard island with an aquamarine lagoon and white sand beaches. A large triangular exterior barrier reef surrounds the island. About 2,000 people live here. Aitutake is part of the Cook Islands and supported by New Zealand. Aitutaki was "discovered" by Captain Bligh and the Bounty just 14 days before the infamous Mutiny on the Bounty. Even more intriguing, one of the characters we met while on the island was Steve Christenson a direct descendant (5x generations) of Fletcher Christenson who led the mutiny.
