The Adventures of Quasar IV: The City of Bayona
WE have just arrived in Bayona Marina and are staying here for a few days to wait for the south westerlies to move to a north westerliy so we can make more progress under sail. Bayona is the place made famous by Christopher Columbus when he returned in a badly damaged 'Pinta' to break the news of the New World to the Europeans. A few years ago that was, of course! The marina here is massive and finding a berth was no problem. The staff are friendly and we are right near the old part of town with its historical interests which we will no doubt wander towards later this evening. The lack of wind today made for a fairly steady motor from Sangenjo, via Isla Cies, to here, but still a pleasant 26 miles of Atlantic Ocean experienced. Maximum sea swell height today was a good 3 metres - very interesting.....!!! Full Story »
