Giro d'Italia Stage 18
Stage 18 of the Giro cam through town yesterday. After plenty of research l found the optimum spot to watch the riders come past. The first climb of the stage just 20km south of where we have been staying. So an hour before the race was due l rolled out on my bike and headed to the climb. Even though you literally see the riders for about 10 seconds the whole thing is a serious road show with Team Cars, Team Buses, Sponsor Vehicles, Police ect etc! l was positioned on the straight just before a hair pin corner sitting on my bike. The riders cam past literally rubbing shoulders so l only managed to snap one pick before l had to make sure l didn't hook one of the riders. Very cool experience and l hope to post a few pic's of the whole thing for you.Kiwis Julian Dean and Tim Guddsell were both out there.
