Wet Again
Well after 10 days in the Boat Shed at BMW Oracle racing we are finally getting wet again. This time in our new Boat NZL 8358.Its been a busy period at BOR with many projects on the go, TP52's, VX40's, Star's and on top of it all Dead of Gift preparations where we are still waiting for a  Date decision to be issued by the NY Court. BOR have been amazingly supportive the whole way through our Olympic campaign since both Hamish and l have been part of this new Team from both Russell and the Management to our fellow Sailing Team members we have even had some Americas Cup Shore Team (rigging, boat building, mechanics) expertise in setting up the new boat to make it that little bit more special. Sparring partner American Mark Mendleblatt (ETNZ 2007) turned up late last night along with Coach David Giles, so today we set up the Chartered Star we have here in Valencia. From there we will be out on the old Americas Cup course tuning NZL 8358 against David and Mark, while at the same time  Pepsi and l build our Team Dynamics up to an Olympic level. The days are truly flying by as we lead up to Beijing, for me personally it hasn't really set in yet that we are going to the Olympics (not sure if thats a good or a bad thing??). Were trying to stay grounded and focus in on the details. Our Olympic Coach Rod Davis made an interesting point at the 2008 World Champs in Miami that has really stuck with me and l think it relates to all aspects of life not just the Olympics. He said "Performing well is simply about performing at your Potential". We have what it takes ,that is why we are World Champions and are Olympic Team members. From now on it is a matter of executing our Goal of Olympic Gold which is the frame of mind we are taking.Bottom line we are all smiling and enjoying the life we lead. Full Story »
